Italian Carved Stone Two-Tiered Garden Fountain from Vicenza
-
Description
A large size Northern Italian carved stone fountain from the mid-19th century. This exquisite garden fountain was born in the 1850s in the city of Vicenza, in the Veneto region of Italy. One of the main elements present in Italian gardens since the Renaissance, a great many artists expressed their art through the magnificence of fountains. Bernini’s four rivers fountain in Rome is one such example of the Italian excellence in that domain. Here, our two-tiered fountain features a large corolla in the lower section. Two draped putti are placed in the centre supporting a mask decorated urn resting inside a smaller corolla. Crowning the ensemble, a cute chubby putto stretches out, adopting a very Baroque movement. Perfect to be placed in a garden, this 1850s Italian carved stone fountain from Vicenza, Veneto will make a definite visual statement.
