Two Large Chinese Martaban Storage Jars, c. 1900 -1930
-
Description
This is a great pair of large late 19th/early 20th century Martaban storage jars. The jars are decorated with flaming dragons with Greek Key borders. Both of these jars are in very good condition with anticipated patination, but undamaged. Martaban storage jar were designed to store pickles, wine, oil and other food stuffs. The larger jars with wide openings were created to be shipping containers for more valuable porcelain pieces and other items of value. This pair of large jars or pots is highly decorative and can be placed inside or out--they would make great accent pieces for a mid-century or contemporary home. Fitted with a stone or glass top, they would convert to side tables.
***We are selling the jars individually; please contact MJH Design Arts for pricing for the pair of jars. -
