Description
Hand-blown glass vase with multicolor vertical rods by Anzolo Fuga for AVEM (Arte Vetraria Muranese), Murano Italy, 1955-6. The clear and colorful rods interspersed among the red on white rods creates a very striking design.
Literature: Anzolo Fuga, Murano Glass Artist, Designs for A.V.E.M. by Rosa Barovier Mentasti, Acanthus Press, 2005, section titled "VERTICAL RODS 1955-56", this model is shown on page 68.
AVEM, Arte Vetraria Muranese, Artistic Production 1932-72 by Marc Heiremans and published by Arnolsche in 2020, there are numerous photos of pieces with vertical multicolor rods.
Provenance: Evan Lobel purchased this piece directly from A.V.E.M. in 2001 as part of a large collection of pieces stored there from the 1940’s, 1950’s and 60’s. -
