Description
A very decorative cerulean blue enamel boullework box with complex brass inlay on all sides. Decorative ormolu bands around the top and bottom rest upon strips of solid ebony. Centering the top is a blank brass cartouche-shaped medallion. A very unusual offset (opening on the right hand side, not the middle) lock and escutcheon on the right with dummy lock and escutcheon on the left, the two front door opening forward. A solid ebony interior, signed over both locks “TAHAN Fab. à Paris”. Working lock and key. Solid mahogany bottom, the box rests upon turned ebony bun feet.
