Midcentury Brass & Cast Iron 4 Piece Fire Suite by Donald Deskey for Bennett

This stunning Art Deco fire screen suite was realized by the legendary designer Donald Deskey- the visionary behind Radio City Music Hall- for Bennet in the United States, circa 1950. The suite features a fire screen; grate and andirons- all in cast iron and polished brass. The grate features a wealth of attached concave demilune forms supported by four convex crested supports of the same shape all in black cast iron. The andirons are polished brass tops as well as amorphic sculptural feet in black iron. The fire screen offers an austere polished brass rectangular perimeter with a chain mesh interior and a rectilinear open form pattern at the base with two openings for the andirons. This is one of the most iconic and sought after fire place suites created during the 20th century. It's effortlessly chic aesthetic remains as timeless and modern looking today as when it was created more than sixty years ago. It is exceedingly rare to find all of the pieces of the suite together, making this offering especially desirable for aficionados of rare modern design. The pieces are marked with Bennet's proprietary fire stamp, and are in very good vintage condition.
