Description
"Chinoise” Sculpture by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. This sculpture, a self portrait which stylistically mixes Art Nouveau and orientalism, is among her earliest successes. This piece is the original sculpted plaster version which she gilded. Two bronze and one marble were created in 1914. The marble version is in the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum.
