Antique American Victorian Lady’s Desk Box for Elegant Epistles 1897CC630Victorian Regency sterling silver lady’s desk box for elegant epistles. Made by Howard & Co. in New York in 1897. Rectangular with straight sides and hinged cover. Applied oval wreaths (vacant) surrounded by garlands, torches, and crowns. Imbricated leaf rims. Gilt interior with compartments for wax, pens, and postage stamps; seal in detachable wood liner. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, year, and no. 1514.
