Masterful vase by John Andersson (1899-1969) for Höganäs, having a modernized urn form with angular tapered sides, flange lip, and scroll handles, hand-thrown in stoneware with body carved in a crosshatch pattern to catch running burgundy over gray glazing, resulting in a marvelous crosshatch effect; Sweden, mid-20th century; carved marks for Höganäs and artist, painted "1354"
