Description
Modern Black Panther Sculpture, Hot Cast Bronze, American, 21st C.
A signed, dated, and numbered limited edition tabletop sculpture titled Black Panther by award-winning sculptor Jesse Nusbaum. Crafted in 100% hot bronze, this piece showcases exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Mr. Nusbaum was awarded the prestigious 'Artist of the Future' honor for this piece, emerging as the winner from a competitive pool of over 10,000 participants. Below is the artist's statement, which outlines the inspiration and conceptual framework behind this work.
"The inspiration behind sculpting the panther stemmed from my desire to capture its profound elusiveness and regal majesty. The panther is a creature of mystery—graceful, yet powerful; elusive, yet commanding. Their solitary nature and stealthy movements give them an almost mythical quality—lone predator that slips seamlessly through the shadows, rarely seen but always felt. I wanted to capture this perfect balance of beauty and danger, embodying the panther’s silent strength as it moves through its
natural habitat. The panther’s sleek, muscular form and its hypnotic eyes reflect a majestic aura. There is an intense, penetrating quality to the panther’s bright yellow eyes that seem to see right through you. I sought to emphasize the hypnotic nature of these eyes, using subtle shifts in texture and light to capture their depth and allure. It was important to me to make them a focal point, allowing viewers to feel drawn into the panther’s world and a glimpse into his soul.
The intricacy of the sculpture required a deep focus on texture, particularly in capturing the fur’s subtle flow and depth. It took a painstaking 100,000 lines to carve the fur, each detail carefully placed to reflect the smooth yet textured elegance of the panther’s coat. The sculpture serves as both a tribute to this elusive animal and an invitation to explore the complexities of some of nature’s rarest beauties. " - Jesse Nusbaum
