George VI sterling silver cigarette case. Made by Joseph Gloster Ltd in Birmingham in 1942. Rectangular and hinged with thumb rests. Gilt interior and engine-turned verso. Enameled cover with the RMS Queen Mary the Cunard ship that ferried the rich and famous across the Atlantic. It was launched in 1936 and epitomized between-the-wars glamour. This case dates from World War II after its conversion to a troopship. Fully marked. Very good condition.
