An antique European Donegal Gallery carpet. Many Irish Donegals follow Oushak styles, but here is a light blue rug with a thoroughly Art Nouveau design. The oval field displays a wispy open medallion within long, narrow floating bar borders from which grow water plants. This design is uncommon in the Donegal oeuvre, with nothing Celtic about the design. This is a carpet that can be appreciated as a unique work of art, regardless of furnishings.
