An unusual pair of antique handmade northwest Persian Feraghan Sarouk rugs. 4'3" x 7' Each, c-1880's, finely woven with soft fine natural dyed wool, the background color is blue with green, ivory, salmon and light blue, traditional floral design with central medallion, excellent condition, full pile throughout of the rugs, the ends and sides are secured and they had been professionally cleaned
It's not usual to find a matching pair of these rugs.
The Feraghan district area have a long history of rug and carpet weaving in the 19th century, many British companies opened oriental carpet factories and began to produce fine Persian Feraghan rugs and carpets for export to Europe. Antique Feraghan carpets and rugs are prized for their sturdy construction and their fine quality. -
