Description
A collection of four pre-Columbian textile fragments presented in groupings in two wood frames. The style of these textile indicate that they are from Inca period in nowadays Peru, circa 15-16th century. The larger single panel shows stepped check pattern, prominent in Inca textile design. The checks were woven in two sets of contrasting tricolors, forming the shape of a hook. It is likely the decorative border of a large mantle or cape. The second frame displays three smaller pieces, with one woven in geometrical form in blue and white, and a pair of rectangular panels with a figure like patter and long tassels. These might also be fringes of some sort of clothing accessories. Their sizes are 10" x 25" x 1 and 11" x 12" x 1 respectively. Listed measurement is for packaging purpose only,
