Description
ART DECO LONGWY FOR PRIMAVERA CHARGER
An exceptional and rare example of Art Deco ceramic artistry, this striking 15-inch or 38-cm charger was produced by the renowned Faïenceries et Emaux de Longwy for Primavera—the celebrated design studio founded by the prestigious Le Printemps department store in Paris.
During the 1920s and 1930s, Primavera collaborated with leading artists of the period, including René Buthaud, and partnered with esteemed ceramic houses such as Longwy to create avant-garde designs tailored for the modern collector.
This charger is a masterpiece of the era, showcasing a refined Art Deco motif of two female nudes and a deer, symbolizing grace and harmony. The design is rendered in a sophisticated palette of black, taupe, pale yellow, and burnt sienna, with finely stylized outline detailing that accentuates its dynamic form.
The underside bears clear and correct Longwy markings, affirming its authenticity and origin: Faïenceries et Emaux de Longwy.
A rare and highly collectible statement piece, this large 38cm charger represents the height of Longwy and Primavera’s Art Deco collaboration.
