Exquisite ceramic vase by Gustave Reynaud, France, c. 1960, signed on the underside. This decorative vase is cylindrical in shape with a pleasant foliage motif hand-painted against the larger backdrop of a black, green, and earthen red linear design. Vase is in excellent vintage condition.
Gustave Reynaud (1915-1972) founded the pottery Le Mûrier (Mulberry Tree) in Vallauris in 1955 and produced crockery designed by his brother-in-law Jean Derval as well as vases, wall plaques and anthropomorphic jugs. He also worked with the potter, J-F Descombes, and decorator Michel Barbier in their well known village in the French Riviera. After Reynaud's death in 1972 his wife ran the pottery until 1984. - More Information
