Glazed earthenware. Large-scale bowl with exaggerated handles and tall center base. . Sicilian-born and active in Rome, Salvatore Meli draws from the richness and dignity of Etruscan and Greek pottery, establishing a style that was distinct from his contemporaries. Dated and signed at top of neck. Pieces by Meli are very rare to find.
