Description
Very desirable Chrysanthemum sterling silver punchbowl. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Curved sides and turned-down scalloped rim applied with orderly leaf-and-flowerhead garland overlapping reeding. Raised base on 4 volute-scroll supports with dense same. Interior has engraved garland and twisted stem flutes. Holds 18 pints of rarified fun.
A monumental piece in a pattern that was introduced by Tiffany in 1880. It is a New World interpretation of a Japanese motif.
Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 12331 (first produced in 1895), director’s letter (1892-1902), and volume. Excellent condition.
