Description
The silver overlay technique was developed by the Hopi in 1949. In it, the silversmith joins two pieces of silver, which produces a clear depth in the design. This technique was used very effectively by the Hopi silversmith who made this belt buckle. With an asymmetric design of sun's rays reflecting across the mesas (or perhaps church??), a strong message of well-being and joy are conveyed.
