Monumental Fiber Art Textile Wall Sculpture “Flight” by Barbara Barron, 1982
-
Description
This phenomenal wall-mounted mid-century-modern sculpture is titled “Flight” and was created by internationally recognized textile artist Barbara Barron.
This piece was commissioned in 1982 for an upstate New York Estate and entailed an extraordinary amount of detailed work in the twining. A much more modest iteration of this motif was featured in Architectural Digest as it hung in the Guggenheim estate in Sands Point NY. This is a monumental example of her work and was very well preserved.
It hangs in three sections on a french cleat system. The colors are absolutely sublime and each element has been professionally cleaned by hand. It is ready for another 40 years of enjoyment.
It is as beautiful and relevant today as it was the day it was created. -
