Mildred Tommy Atkin Mid-century Floral Abstract Painting
Offered for sale is a Mid-century Modern floral abstract oil painting on canvas by Mildred Tommy Atkin (NY b. 1903-1969) titled "Blue Garden." Mrs. Mildred Atkin Winston, who painted under the name Mildred Tommy Atkin, began as a portrait painter. The artist lived and painted on Park Avenue, New York. Her shows were dominated by scenes of the city. Mrs. Winston, who also taught painting, had been active in the National Association of Women Artists, the New York Society of Women Artists, the National Society of Painters in Casein, Audubon Artists. and the Pen and Brush Club. She was a director of the New York Chapter of Artist's Equity Association.
The painting is titled Blue Garden, dated 1957 and signed on verso.
