Description
An evocative pastel by the American painter George Michael Haushalter (1862 - 1943), capturing the serene atmosphere of a New England fishing village. Known for his mastery of light and color across both Europe and Maine, Haushalter’s soft, atmospheric strokes bring a romantic and lived-in quality to this coastal scene.
Circa 1920, this original period work was created during the height of the artist's involvement with the American watercolor and pastel traditions.
Executed in pastel on paper and presented in a refined frame that complements its delicate palette. Rooted in the Impressionist tradition with a focus on regional American life, this piece reflects the early 20th century's deep appreciation for the quiet beauty of the Maine coastline. -
