Basket of Fruit Theorem Still Life

Among New England stenciled theorem still-life pictures, this one is noteworthy for its fine state of preservation and being documented to the schoolgirl who painted it. Sarah Rebecca Kingsbury was born March 26, 1820, in Jamaica, Windham County, Vermont, the eldest of the eleven children of Nathaniel Kingsbury (1795–1864) and Sarah “Sally” Shedd Hosley (1795–1864), born between 1820 and 1840. Around 1838 the family relocated to Chicopee, Massachusetts. Sarah Rebecca Kingsbury died unmarried on February 18, 1892, in Springfield, Massachusetts. -
