Description
The Picnic, Island Belle, & the schooner Harry L Belden, Nantucket Harbour, U.S.A. (circa 1890) by K. A. Griffin, watercolour on paper, showing a steam launch filled with day trippers and flying the Stars & Stripes, alongside two schooners with a paddle steamer in the hazy distance, signed ‘K A Griffin ©86’. English, 1886.
Fishing Schooner Harry L Belden was built by Moses Adams (1837-1894), an Essex County shipbuilder. He built eighty-five schooners and pilot boats, including the Harry L. Belden in 1889. The Harry L. Belden was wrecked on Green Island, New York in December 1901. -

Wick Antiques was established by Charles Wallrock in the early 1980s. Having grown up in the Antiques world Charles developed an extensive wealth of knowledge. Starting out as a ‘man with a van’ he quickly gained a good reputation and embarked on a longstanding relationship with Harrods. He was later joined by his wife, Caroline Wallrock. Caroline having completed a Persian degree, went on to study at Christie’s fine art and then joined Sotheby’s specializing in Islamic and Japanese works of art
