Alex Grey is a visionary artist and New Age leader celebrated for his mystical visual meditations on spirituality and the nature of consciousness. Grey creates artworks influenced by both his clinical knowledge of the human form—absorbed while working at Harvard Medical School’s Anatomy department—and his experiences with LSD and other hallucinogenic drugs. Infusing cosmic imagery into his depictions of the human body, Grey’s psychedelic creations extend to popular culture, piquing the interest of bands like Nirvana and The Beastie Boys; Tool commissioned Grey to create the artwork for their albums Lateralus (2001) and 10,000 Days (2006). Grey’s oeuvre includes drawing, performance art, installation art, sculpture, painting, and NFTs. He is the co-founder of the nonprofit Chapel of Sacred Mirrors (CoSM) with his wife Allyson, and he spoke about his practice in a popular 2013 TED talk. - More Information
