A lovely 19th Century Italian Oil on Canvas Titled "Pleasurable Thoughts" by Giovanni Piccone (1842-1887).
The reading of a good book will always give one pleasure. Here the woman pauses from her reading, puts down the book, and appears to let her mind and imagination take her to a higher level of pleasurable thought. Perhaps there is a parallel between the book’s contents and events in her own life.
