Description
Large Italian painting signed and dated 1898. Oil on canvas, first canvas, artwork depicting a portrait, Milanese noblewoman, of good pictorial quality. Painting of great size and impact, on a light background, with an elegant lady sitting on a Renaissance armchair. Painting adorned with a beautiful wooden frame, from the 20th century, carved and gilded. Painting signed Sorio L., dated 98 Milan (see photo) attributable to the famous portrait and landscape painter Luigi Sorio (1835-1909), lacking authentication. Painting that has undergone conservative restoration work on the edges of the canvas, probably in conjunction with the replacement of the frame. It has a small tear at the bottom center, on the lady's dress, where a quick intervention was carried out to cover the defect (see photo), to be restored for better enjoyment. It has a reference to the subject of the portrait on the original frame (see photo) currently being studied. Painting in overall good condition with some signs of aging. Internal size H 113 x W 84 cm.
