Vintage Nicholas Orsini Abstract Painting Portrait of a Man

Offered for sale is an abstract oil painting on board of a portrait of a man by Nicholas Orsini (1931-2012) with his wispy copper mane and emotive blue eyes. The famed mid-century artist and author of the renowned book, The Language of Drawing, Orsini depicts a man (and another looking on in profile) with with large eyes, a strong nose, and full lips in an array of soft hues and colors. The work is Surreal in style and hypnotic. The portrait is signed and is presented floating in a new frame that accentuates the colors of the portraiture.

Nicholas Orsini was an esteemed painter and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a major in painting. He later obtained an MFA degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Orsini further refined his skills by studying at the Academy of Fine Arts and in Italy. In addition to his artistic contributions, he also shared his expertise as a professor of art at several universities. His legacy lives on after his passing at the age of 81 in 2012.
