James Wilson Rayen, Dune Study 2, circa 1975
-
Description
- Lithograph on paper, framed.
- This pair of ethereal dune studies was created in the mid-1970's by American artist and professor James Wilson Rayen (1925-2013).
- We love the graphic and serene quality of these prints, which depict the horizon line of the sea and two seagrass-speckled sand dunes.
- These pieces were created by Rayen as color trial lithography proofs and bear a watermark in their lower left hand corner. Sold separately, we love them displayed as a pair, yet each is strong enough to stand on its own as well.
- Rayen was a beloved Wellesley professor, teaching at the prestigious college for over 40 years. A Yale graduate, his work is in the collections of Andover, the Wellesley Davis Museum, and the Cincinnati Art Museum.
- This is a vintage print, newly matted and framed under UV-resistant plexi. -
