A limited edition of 200, this piece is a testament to the collaboration between two artistic luminaries. The lithograph is part of a comprehensive book curated by Pierre Restany, a visionary in the art world, featuring 60 reproductions in stunning colors. The entire collection was published by the esteemed Harry N. Abrams, Inc., based in New York.
The lithograph, true to Botero's signature style known as Boterismo, captures the essence of charm and whimsy. The focal point is an oversized woman, gracefully portrayed, holding a small umbrella while standing beside a tranquil lake under the shelter of towering, oversized trees. Pierre Restany (24 June 1930 – 29 May 2003), was an internationally known French art critic and cultural philosopher.
Restany was born in Amélie-les-Bains-Palalda, Pyrénées-Orientales, and spent his childhood in Casablanca. On returning to France in 1949 he attended the Lycée Henri-IV before studying at universities in France, Italy and Ireland.
