Description
Andrei Petrov is an American artist of Russian origins. He is best known for his abstract oil paintings where calibrated stratifications of intense shades of colors are scraped to expose prior layers. This creative process is the expression of his lifelong struggle to retain memories of his childhood and life. “ As a child I was involved in an accident that affected my memory and compelled me to paint. Ever since, I have been trying to reclaim what I lost through my work”. The gestural quality of Petrov's work is often counterbalanced by the use of graphic elements that occur sporadicly through out the surface, like thoughts suspended in time. His abstractions at times reference natural landscapes and atmospheric transparencies, like the beautiful blue color of this work seem to suggest.

Petrov currently lives and works in NYC. His work has been exhibited in the United States and appeared in several movies and TV shows.
