Description
A striking antique Japanese floor screen circa 1840-1880, end of Edo period in the Tosa School Style. It is comprised of six panels and depicting "Genji" love stories in a garden setting. Gold leaves occupy the background and the characters were hand painted in a very precise and realistic style. Original frame with the hinges and corner hardware. Old label on the back as shown in the picture.

Antique condition with many restorations; several repaired long cracks across the paper. Small losses, minor detachment on the corners. Some tear on the back paper.
