Whitewashed Antique Chest of Drawers with Hand-carved Leaf Motif

Wonderful English Country style painted wood three-drawer dresser decorated all over with ornate leaf and scroll carvings, made in England circa late 19th century. Exquisitely handcrafted, scrolling acanthus leaf adorn the drawers and square column stiles of the chest. Each side panel is decorated with an elaborate hand-carved thistle and shell molding each side. The intricate hand-carved moldings create lively shadow play when the chest is placed near a window. The white-washed surface reveals some of the natural wood grain underneath.The dramatic ornamentation is balanced by the simple lines of the silhouette and complemented by ogree bracket feet. The drawers slide smoothly and open with white-painted pendant pulls. The dresser has been restored so that it can be a functional storage solution in the bedroom or living room.
