French 19th Century Mahogany Inlaid Cabinet
-
Description
French mahogany cabinet, c. 1880, with stunning satinwood and ebony inlay masterfully applied to every drawer and door front. This piece is richly adorned with an abundance of brass ormolu. The top is trimmed in a brass banding with detailed, corbel-like ornamentation on the canted corners. A shallow drawer is situated just below the top and has an inlaid border along with brass knobs and trim. The two-door cabinet houses a single fixed shelf and has the most amazing inlaid design. A single key works as the pull for the locking doors. Two lower drawers with drop ring pulls, brass trim and inlaid border complete the storage for this cabinet. The apron is as beautiful as the rest of the cabinet with another well crafted inlaid design. The whole sits on four cabriole legs with brass feet. The two front legs have brass ormolu designs extending up from the feet and terminating on the canted corners. Side panels with brass ormolu florets add even more style to this cabinet.
