Taraxacum by Achille Castiglioni for FLOS

Description
Rarer version of the Taraxacum 88, this is the 120 lights version from the early 2000s of the classic Achille Castiglioni’s design by FLOS. Made of panels of molded aluminum covered with 120 large bulbs, offering a very diffuse light hue.
Achille Castiglioni (1918-2002)
Born in Milan in 1918, Achille Castiglioni is a well-known Italian industrial designer who worked with his brothers, Livio (1911-1979) and Giacomo (1913-1968).
Livio quit the collaboration in 1952, but Giacomo and Achille continued working together until Giacomo’s death in 1968.
In 1958, Achille Castiglioni gas among the founder members of the ADI (Association for Industrial Design), in 1969 he started teaching Industrial Design at the Faculty of Architecture of Torino and later at the Politecnico di Milano, where he taught until 1993.
14 of his pieces are part of the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.
He was awarded 9 times the Compasso d’Oro at the Trienale di Milano. -
