Pair of Belle Époque style clear cut-glass chandeliers

$ 22,500
  • Description
    Pair of Belle Époque style clear cut-glass chandeliers

    Continental, 20th Century

    Height 91cm, diameter 65cm

    This magnificent pair of chandeliers is crafted in the lavish Belle Époque style, which characterised French design at the turn of the 20th century.

    The two chandeliers are identical in design. The stem of each is adorned with geometric designs, with a small glass canopy extending from the centre that is hung with pendants. From the bottom bowl, which is similarly engraved with geometric patterns, eight rope-style S-scroll branches extend, each terminating in a waved hurricane shade etched with floral designs. Each shade sits atop a tiered flower-shaped candle cup, from which speared pendants hang.

    The decorative upper tier features six downward arching arms of a similar rope design, which extend from a pendant-adorned top canopy. Each arm terminates in an impressive, tiered pendant, which features two upside-down cut-glass flowers centred by a speared pendant. Each chandelier terminates in a similar manner, with the same floral pendant design hanging from the bottom bowl.

    With their undeniable opulence, this magnificent pair would beautifully illuminate both a contemporary and a traditional interior.
