Rare golden chandelier with 6 lights surmounted by a balloon decorated with draperies inspired by the first aerostats flights in Frnace
Previously owned by the french collectors Mr and Mrs Korber in their historical jewel, the Petit Hotel Labottière in Bordeaux, this piece was probably hung in the house since 1786 when Etienne Labottière, a rich unmarried bourgeois move in his new house. Emblem of the Age of Enlightenment in France, this refined chandelier evoke one of the grandest periods of scientific discoveries in Europe.
This Balloon theme was also selected by Karl Lagerfeld for the decor of his 2012 Biennale des Antiquaires in the Grand Palais in Paris
