Pair of BBPR for Artemide Wall Sconces in Metal and Glass

Description
Pair of Italian sconces with solid brass mounting plate with gunmetal patina, enclosing two half-spherical opaque striated glasses. Designed by the studio BBPR for Artemide, 1964.
BBPR Design Studio was a prominent architectural and design firm that was founded in Milan, Italy in 1932. The name BBPR comes from the initials of the founders - Gian Luigi Banfi, Lodovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso, Enrico Peressutti, and Ernesto Nathan Rogers.
The firm gained recognition for their innovative and modernist approach to architecture, and they were involved in a wide range of projects including residential buildings, office buildings, museums, and even the design of the Milan Metro.
One of BBPR's most notable projects is the Torre Velasca, a 26-story tower in the heart of Milan that was completed in 1958. The tower is considered to be a prime example of Italian modernist architecture and is recognized as a cultural heritage site by the Italian government.
BBPR Design Studio dissolved in the late 1960s, but their legacy in the world of architecture and design continues to inspire and influence designers today. -
