Description
Resembling the decorative brass trays of North Africa, this wooden and metal wall mirror was made in 19th Century France. A circular composition and wide frame give the mirror glass a mystical appeal, a sunburst of brassy gold framing the reflective wishing well within. The surface is covered with a layer of metal, beaten and pieced together from separate sheets, the brass pins create a unique visual texture with their presence and their absence– the holes and coloration from the now absent pins conjure a curious palimpsest.
