"925" Easy Chair by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Cassina, Italy, 1960s
-
Description
Designed in 1966 by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Cassina, the "925" easy chair is a sculptural piece crafted in walnut and black leather. The design was inspired by a 1943 sketch by Carlo Scarpa, Tobia's father, and builds on solutions first explored in the "121" chair. Reimagined proportions - wider seat, taller feet, and a reworked backrest - create an enveloping form that balances comfort and structure. The concept fuses a cube with a petal: the solid wooden frame expresses formal rigor, while the curved leather backrest evokes the elegance of a petal. Comfort is achieved through the anatomical shape of the seat and the natural elasticity of the cantilevered backrest. Priced per piece, we have two available in perfect condition.
