André Arbus living set ash wood four armchairs coffee table 1940s
-
Description
This elegant André Arbus living room set is sure to add an element of French neoclassicism chic to any room in your home. Including four armchairs and a coffee table, it was designed and produced by André Arbus for the headquarters of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique in the late 1940s. With shapely solid ash wood frames, tapered legs, slightly sabre at the back, with brass sabots at the front, these armchairs are wonderful examples of the French neoclassicism of André Arbus. The coffee table features brass sabots and inlays, and a beautiful figured ash wood top. The set has been fully restored, wood revarnished, and armchairs reupholstered, two with grey alcantara fabric by Lelièvre, and two with linen fabric by Pierre Frey, Menerbes reference. Similar armchairs were sold by Tajan Paris on March 6th 2015. Armchairs dimensions are Width 52 cm ; Depth 58 cm ; Height 90 cm ; Seating height 46 cm.
Reference : Andre Arbus: Architecte-Decorateur Des Annees 40, Brunhammer, ppg. 238 illustrates a similar example. -
