A most rare set of ten Klismos dining chairs designed by Carl Malmsten in 1938 for Widdicomb newly professionally refinished and reupholstered in Holy Hunt Great Outdoors fabric designed for both indoor and outdoor use making it highly durable and resistant to stains or happy spills. This particular Klismos set is by far the most beautiful set available on this site or elsewhere. Whereas other sets are strictly neoclassical in their shape and overall look, this Widdicomb Klismos set is a Mid-Century Modern update to that Ancient Grecian design. It can be incorporated into most styles of décor. Rich mahogany grain will warm any room. Curved seat backs glimmer and hug your guests in a more comfortable and intimate manner than traditional flat back chairs. Confident formal seats with new cushioning and Holy Hunt upholstery offer more comfort than other sets’ traditional wooden seats. The chair’s legs are less splayed than Neoclassical versions making them easier to move and manage. That subtle elegance that reads of old money, family, and tradition. Incredible to imagine this set of chairs has presided over 80 years of holidays and home traditions. Solid quality construction. Sometimes attributed to Robsjohn-Gibbings, these chairs’ debut predates Robsjohn-Gibbings collections for Widdicomb.
