Pine bench designed by the French designer Charlotte Perriand in the 1970s. It is composed of four feet connected by a spacer and two thick slats forming the seat, all made in pine. This model was designed for the apartment development of Les Arcs ski resort, an important project in the designer's career. In the mid-1960s Perriand designed all aspects of the lodgings at the ski resorts, from the building down to the furnishings and floor plans. The modernist resort includes sleek designs in pine, in reference to Perriands Minimalist period. Charlotte Perriand (24 October 1903 – 27 October 1999) was a French architect and designer, famous for her sober furniture directly inspired by the mountains and Japan. She brought a new vision to the furniture by removing all the elements that seemed superfluous. Her work aimed to create functional living spaces in the belief that better design helps in creating a better society.
