Description
This elegant and historically important sofa was designed by the legendary Donald Deskey- the man responsible for the design of Radio City Music Hall where this sofa was originally housed- in 1932. This iconic piece offers a cloud form motif consisting of stacked streamlined forms that create the sides of the sofa, clad in a luxe black leather. Sitting on four volumetric walnut feet attached by an elegantly apportioned apron, the sofa also features a black leather front and back that offers a sophisticated contrast to the taupe cashmere that adorns the three back and seat cushions. With its quintessentially Art Deco sensibility designed by one of the era's greats, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of 1930s historical design, as well as those with a penchant for truly special objects (that practically never come to market). The sofa has been newly reupholstered in a historically appropriate combination of black leather and taupe cashmere that appears as modern today as it did nearly one hundred years ago. The piece has been newly reupholstered and restored to mint condition.
