Exceptional Swedish Karl Johann/Empire Armchair in Mahogany

Description
Fine desk/arm chair in the Karl Johann/Empire style, having a round back with a very nicely modeled klismos style top rail and recessed armrests (with six inches clearance as such) with columnette supports, and taering legs that saber in the back, crafted in handsome cuts of solid Cuban mahogany; Sweden, first half of the 198th century.
Provenance: The chair once belonged to the dashing figure of Carl Johan Ljunggren (1790 - 1852), noteworthy Swedish military man, artist/illustrator and author. -
