Fine Art Deco Rosewood Arm Chair over Sabre Legs circa 1935

$ 1,990
  • Description
    Of a highly refined design with influences of Ruhlmann evident in the development of the legs, this Art Deco arm chair is designed to be a perfect desk chair. With a deep supportive upholstered body, the deco patterned yellow damask almost wraps around the sitter in a most comfortable manner. There is a strength in the form and joints that is immediately made evident, the sturdy frame resting over solid rosewood sabre legs that curve ever so slightly forward and have just a gentle downward arch in the rear legs. The outward facing corners of the front legs are routed to provide a degree of angularity to the leg profile. It is an exquisite acquisition for the collector of fine Art Deco period furnishings.

    Measurements: 24 1/4” W x 23 1/2” D x 32” H, 17 1/2” H to seat

    Condition Report:
    Some discoloration around top of legs, a tiny steel brad visible at uppermost of front left leg (likely a stray nail from doing upholstery at one point); minor surface wear to rosewood; upholstery is a very high quality period correct damask with minor soiling and discoloration, overall remaining in good-to-excellent condition. The chair is sturdy, comfortable and very supportive.
