c1955 Franco Albini "Luisa" armchair, for Poggia
-
Description
Excelling at both furniture design (having starting under Gio Ponti) and industrial design (graduate of architecture from Politecnico di Milano) - Franco Albini (1905-1977) went on to be awarded the prestigious Italian Compasso D’Oro by ADI three times. One such award was for his "Luisa" armchair that he redesigned in 1955 for the firm Poggia in Pavia Italy. Originally designed in 1939 for the Villa Pestarini to be functional with an eye to his need for perfect industrial structure. A classic beauty. Dark stained teakwood frame and newer black skai leather. Reissued by Cassina in the 1980s - this set is the original from the 1950s by Poggia. Two available, priced per chair.
