Signed Hans Wegner AP Stolen Papa Bear Chair and Ottoman

Sold Sold
  • Description
Handsome early 1960s AP-19 chair designed by Hans J. Wegner for A.P. Stolen. These chairs are better known as the Papa Bear chair for their stately silhouette. Crafted teak details notable in the paws, showcasing Wegner's intimate understanding of fine woodworking. Expertly upholstered in a black wool fabric, these cozy chairs are supremely comfortable. This chair retains the original ink-stamped signature at the underside of the chair frame. The accompanying foot stool completes the set.

I purchased this chair roughly fifteen years ago from the original owner's Long Island estate. This is the first time I've offered it from my private collection.

Condition: 100 percent original condition. Some fraying of fabric on the chair. Moderate fraying of fabric on seat cushion. Foam in the seat cushion is petrified. Ottoman padding is very comfortable. If you recover the seat cushion, you can easily use the chair without recovering the entirety.

    36.5"D x 35.5"W x 39"H

    Ottoman:
    16.5"D x 27.5"W x 16H"
