Description
Pair of Mid-Century Modern lounge chairs by Hartmut Lohmeyer for Wilkhahn
This pair of lounge chairs was designed by Hartmut Lohmeyer in 1956. The model is called 400 and was produced by German company Wilkhahn. The chair has a very beautiful organic shape, especially the armrests. The back of the chair is made of a beautiful woven cane and is slightly tilted back. The cushion is reupholstered with a grey leather. Overall one of the most beautiful German Mid-Century designs and due to it's timeless beauty still much sought after today.
Hartmut Lohmeyer (1923-) was trained as an architect at the Technische Hochschule in Karlsruhe. Here he studied architecture under Egon Eiermann and later became a furniture designer. He developed furniture for the home in particular for Wilkhahn in the 1950s and 1960s. -
