Signed & Dated Marcel Breuer Pair Wassily Lounge Chairs Knoll Blk Lthr & Chrome
-
Description
A rare pair of signed 1977 Marcel Breuer for Knoll pair of model B3 lounge chairs, also known as Wassily chairs. Originally designed for and named after Bauhaus artist Wassily Kandinsky circa 1926. These chairs are dated 1977. Notice the welded and polished caps at the ends of the front-to-back stretchers and inner pipe along bottom rails set with allen screws.
Provenance: From the estate of a Long Island architect whose home was likely furnished from the 60s through the 80s. Many excellent designer and decorative pieces throughout this time capsule come.
Condition: Both chairs have some blemishes to the original leather and spots of oxidation to the frames. Mostly the leather is clean and pliable. Plenty of good life left in the leather. One chair has a bit more wear than the other. This is the chair dated March 1st, 1977. This chair has some crazing in the front left corner of the seat. And some chrome loss and touch-ups along the bottom rails. Slight differences in the stitching style on these chairs. I added the screw-in levelling feet. -
