Louis XVI-Style Settee/ Canape
-
Description
This is a charming small Louis XVI-Style settee. The settee dates to the late 19th/early 20th century and is beautifully hand carved, retaining its old patinated gilt surface with its gesso peaking through in spots. The very high-end silk upholstery is showing its age with wear to the down-filled seat cushion and front of seat. The settee, in its present condition, speaks to an Haute Boheme previous life which I think is still gorgeously relevant today. If the buyer would like the settee reupholstered, MJH Design Arts will gladly reupholster the settee in the clients fabric for a nominal charge (please message MJH for pricing). This settee would incorporate beautifully into a study, dining room, living room, bedroom or elegant dressing room.
